![]() So all in all, I'm a bit lost with what I should go for. The red on the other hand has a better DAC and better volume control (so I've read). That'll matter for headphones I guess, but that's not my use case. Also, the speakers have their own amp and volume knob, so the volume knob on the D1 doesn't seem like a plus?Īs both D1 & D3 share the same DAC, should I just go for the cheaper D3? Or is there more to it? My current desktop doesn't have an optical out, so that's not a plus for the D1. I'm playing high bitrate MP3's and FLAC files, and the occasional web content. My hearing isn't probably that good anymore anyway. If driving the Audioengine A5+ active speaker set is the mean purpose (I hardly use a headset with my desktop), which one would be best for me? Also keep in mind I'm not a hardcore audiophile. But I think I'm just going to limit my options to above 4 DACs, or I'm going to drive myself nuts OK, I know there's tons of other options on the market, and various cheap Chinese stuff supposedly as good or better. I suppose it's from my onboard card (although never noticed it with the Logitechs), cause it's gone if I connect the speakers to my smartphone. After some hours of listening on lower volume, I recently cranked up the volume a bit and started to notice some electronic interference. Recently I've replaced the speakers with a set of Audioengine A5+. I've used a set of Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speakers with the onboard soundcard in my desktop(s) for years now. ![]()
